A Day of Shopping in Calgary

Okay, so you have one day in Calgary ' what are you going to do?  Calgary is full of both daytime and nighttime activities.  Here's a suggested itinerary for those looking to enjoy a little bit of boutique shopping while staying at a boutique hotel.

The days are getting warmer here in Calgary and Willow Park Village makes an excellent place to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and shop.  Willow Park Village is an open air complex located in the South Calgary.  Here you will find over sixty-five shops, boutiques and restaurants that will most certainly keep you entertained for a day in Calgary.

Of course you can't come to Calgary without doing a little western wear shopping.  To pick up your boots, Wranglers and collared shirts, head over to Lammle's.  Lammle's is considered the 'Official Retailer of the Calgary Stampede.'

For a sweet treat while you explore Willow Park Village, head to Olivier's Candies.  This is the oldest confectionary in Calgary.  Here you will find everything from hard candy and toffee to peanut brittle and chocolate.  You'll also find a unique line of truffles by Swiss-trained chocolatier Ralph Buchmuller.  His creations include apple cider, maple whiskey, and chai tea (Of course! Who isn't into chai tea these days?).

If you have little ones to bring something back home to (or if they are tagging along), you won't want to miss Ella Bella Maternity Boutique.  This store isn't just for moms-to-be, but kids too.  They feature Umi shoes and Baby Bjorn.  Stephanie's Kids features clothes from infant to the teen years with labels such as Burberry, Diesel, and Quicksilver. There's something here for all ages.

Of course, by now you're going to need a little snack to reenergize as you come down off of your sugar buzz.  If you enjoy Mediterranean style food, then head to the Broken Plate.  The spinach and feta-stuffed chicken is apparently heavenly, as is the marinated souvlaki with rice pilaf, known as the 'Alexander Swords.'  On Friday and Saturday nights, you'll also get to experience a traditional Greek plate breaking and Zebekika dance.

There's plenty more to see and do in Willow Park Village and this is really just a part of this fun and trendy shopping center.  It makes for a perfect day when you don't have a whole lot of time to go sightseeing, but you definitely want to do some shopping and experience a little entertainment as well when you're visiting Calgary.
